Guides to a Great Spring Break

Every year College students and some High School Students will embark on a weeklong vacation called Spring Break. What we see on TV can be true in some cases but not everyone who goes on spring break likes to drink and party. There have been some horrific incidents that have occurred during spring break, students have gotten alcohol poisoning from drinking too much. Students have disappeared the most high profile is Natalee Holloway and most recently Britanee Drexel. The idea of spring break is to have fun but stay safe. Here are some rules to follow when planning on going on spring break.

Step One: It is a good idea to attend spring break with a group of friends. Never go on your own. There is safety in numbers and you would have a better time if you went with friends.

Step Two: Plan your trip early; there are several locations where spring break is the place to be. Cancun, Mexico, Panama City Beach, Florida, Mazatlan, Mexico and even the Bahamas. The best thing to do is make your accommodation reservations at least 6 months in advance. There will be hundreds and hundreds of students vying for the same hotel rooms as you. The last thing you want to do is try to get a room once you have arrived at your location. The same things would apply to airfare.

Step Three: Make sure that you bring your cell phone and your charger. Always keep your phone charged and your cell phone on. Keep important numbers on your speed dial. These numbers should be the numbers of all of your friends that you are attending spring break with, the local police department and the number of hotel security.

Step Four: Never go to a club on your own and never leave a club with someone you met in the club. This is where you can get into trouble. Make sure that you never leave your drinks or food unattended. This is where you can get into some trouble.

Step Five: You should never bring any valuables with you when you travel. Try not to bring credit cards; if they get stolen you could end up with a huge problem. Travelers Cheques are best even if you are in the United States. If you get the American Express Cheques, if they are lost they can be replaced. You want to hold as little cash as possible.

Step Six: If you are attending spring break as a Senior Class Trip in High School, make sure that you have your advisors number on hand and don’t wander away from where the class is. Even on class trips, things can happen and students can get lost or worse.

There is nothing wrong with having a great time on spring break but you want to stay safe. You don’t have to drink all day and have a hang over at night just to say you went to spring break. There is no reason why you shouldn’t have a good time at spring break and remember it.
